5K RED Epic-W stock footage featuring a near First Quarter half moon against a deep blue sky at dusk.
The Story
This was shot less than two weeks before the forest fires filled the Okanagan air with smoke, and turned the moon a deep blood orange. The moon was out early, moving quickly across the blue sky at dusk. This was the my first attempt at capturing the moon with the Sigma 150-600mm lens and RED Epic-W camera. It was nice to be able to extend the focal length by using the crop factor on the RED, although it wasn’t the steadiest of setups. The moon was almost at the First Quarter, having moved on from the Waxing Crescent phase – not quite a half moon, but with the rich blue sky as a backdrop, it made for a nice addition to the W3 stock footage library.
