The Story
This series of POV’s was shot to create an opening sequence for a documentary episode I was working on. The subject of the documentary spoke regularly of nature’s beauty, and I thought a good way to illustrate this would be through a point of view sequence… to put the audience inside the subject’s head – either riding a bike, or meandering slowly through nature. I had recently purchased a Manfrotto MVG460 gimbal, and was delighted to discover that the BMPCC 6K Pro camera and Sigma 18-35mm lens combination mounted and balanced nicely on it. Armed with this near gimbal setup, I headed out to one of the local parks, spending several hours shooting along this gravel path. Overall, I think it turned out quite well, however, I did run into a few problems with dropped frames – either the camera was overheating, or the cards couldn’t quite handle the bit rate? I never did figure out which it was, but the problem didn’t occur again after this shoot. This is the second of five videos in this series.
