PANASONIC EVA1 4K BLUE HERON FEEDING FLYING STOCK FOOTAGE
Description
4K Panasonic EVA1 stock footage of a Great Blue Heron feeding a juvenile heron, then flying away.
The Story
The Great Blue Heron rookery in Port Moody gets a little grander with each spring. As winter subsides, the heron show up en masse and begin to tidy up or build their homes for the next few months. It’s quite a site to see! These are large birds glide effortlessly through the air using their tremendous wings. They resemble dinosaurs – not only in how they look, but also in the sounds the make, especially when under duress. Should an eagle venture into the rookery environs, the chatter can be heard for quite a distance – exponentially compounded when one of the young falls victim to a bird of prey… I would think it akin to what a pterodactyl sounded like. From what I’ve heard, heron and eagles actually have a symbiotic relationship of some sort, but I have yet to look into this further.
I try to get down to the rookery each spring to capture some footage of these magnificent creatures. In this instance, I went armed with a Panasonic EVA1, a Canon CN-E 70-200mm zoom and a Manfrotto 504HD head with carbon fiber sticks.
