The Story
Cherry blossom season is quite beautiful in the Vancouver area – nothing comparable to Japan, but at least we have something to look at here in parts of Canada. I’ve wanted to shoot some video of the cherry blossoms for some time now. Fortunately, I got the opportunity when the need arose on a documentary series I was editing. I grabbed my Manfrotto MVG460, the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro and Sigma 18-35mm lens, and went straight to this small stretch of trees in Port Moody where the cherry blossoms form a canopy above the sidewalk – I thought it would be the perfect spot for a slow motion gimbal shot, that I could use for the series, and my stock footage archive. This area is right at the corner intersection of two streets, so you can see a street lamp in the shot, and a wooded area across the street.
