The Story
Noons Creek is a great place to watch the Coho and Chum salmon run in the fall. Some years are better than others, but the hatchery is constantly working to ensure they have a fighting chance. It’s not easy for the salmon though, as the water levels are often low, and there are inevitably numerous predators to contend with. One such predator, that I often witness making a meal of the salmon, is the Great Blue Heron – in this instance, I managed to catch this one stalking its prey for good stretch of time. I visit the creek in the fall every year, with the hope of catching some unique footage for my stock archive. For this trip, I chose to shoot with the RED Epic-W and Canon CN-E 18-80mm Cinema Zoom.
