The Story
Wandering around the Okanagan property armed with an Epic-W and a macro lens always makes for an interesting day. On this excursion, I managed to stumble across something I hadn’t seen before – a darkling beetle, moving amongst the twigs and pine needles. Looking closely at the beetle through the Sigma 105mm macro lens revealed an interesting texture to its armor-like exterior, bead-like antennae, and hidden jaws. To date, I hadn’t captured any darkling beetle stock footage, so I immediately set up and began to grab what I could. I believe I had an extension tube set with me at the time, but I can’t remember if I used any for this shoot. This is the first of three videos in this series.
