The Story
I’ve spotted at least one of these spiders every year since moving to Port Moody, but they somehow know I’m coming and are gone by the time I get my gear ready. My penchant for macro footage meant I was determined to add the Goldenrod Crab Spider to my stock footage library… so when I spotted one this time, I grabbed the nearest camera, lens and tripod and ran out just in time. Upon arrival, a red ant was forcing the spider to retreat, but the spider stuck around luckily and I managed to get a few shots. Unfortunately, I missed getting the ant vs. spider battle on camera, and the Zeiss 50mm Makro kept bumping into everything, but I still got one or two shots off.
